We have just returned from the ranch and it's HOT! HOT! HOT! up there...and dry. At 7 PM on Saturday the thermometer on the back porch (the shady side of the cabin) registered 100-degrees. DISCLAIMER: The picture above was not taken over the past weekend...Houston County is under a burn ban (as are many other Texas counties).

Our Great-Grandson Visits
I had the most wonderful surprise!!! Laura brought our great-grandson, Matthew, for a visit. It's been far too long since we last saw him. Matthew will be 2 yrs. old on September 10th. Isn't he a cutie-pie? The last picture is a little blurry but it took me so long to get that big smile I just had to keep it. We were playing "say cheese" with our cameras and I had to be quick because he wanted to take more pictures than he was willing to give : ) Fortunately, they were able to stay long enough so Matthew "warmed up" to me and he gave me a big hug before he went home. It was an excellent day.

At The Galveston Strand

Becky and I went to Galveston on Tuesday. We had lunch with Laurice and then we went to the Strand. The Strand isn't the same (yet) but they're working on it. The above pictures were made in a building that opened just two weeks ago. I loved the old elevator and Becky loved the metal flower sculpture on the balcony over my head.
I took the picture above because I thought the architecture was really interesting. Once I got home and downloaded the picture, I noticed the blue line just above the man's head and written in black just in front of him is "Water Line". The 2009 Hurricane Season started June 1st.

I went shopping with the girls last week (Brandi, Emily and Kaylee). I think Emily and Kaylee look stunning in their chic new sunglasses. Wouldn't you agree?
Emily is a big girl now so she's way too cool to show her excitement.
Kaylee on the other hand felt this photo shoot was the perfect opportunity to give us a glimpse of her new "pearly whites".

I can't believe how long it's been since my last post!
Kaylee celebrated her First Birthday on May 1st!!! Kaylee's little personality is equally as sweet as the birthday cake she's enjoying and sharing with "Da-Da" (Emily was sharing, too). I call the last picture "Guys and Dolls" (for obvious reasons).

The last time we were at the ranch (about a month ago), I snapped this picture of some old, retired farm equipment among the wildflowers blooming. I love how the new, colorful flowers make the old, rusty tools look beautiful.

A good portion of our "newest addition" to the ranch has been leased to Pennington & Sons Watermelons. This is their planting on what is now the highest point of the ranch. I hope they haven't harvested all the watermelons before we get back up there : )...I'm missing the place.
Speaking of missing...my sweet Melonie: March 31, 1967 - May 15, 2007.
I hope everyone has a wonderful Memorial Day!

Look at all the fun I had over the weekend! O.C. and Dylan spent the weekend with us while Mom and Dad (Melissa and Trey) went to Ft. Worth to celebrate their 9th wedding anniversary. I took the boys to Southside Skateboard Park on Saturday. It was my first time at a skateboard park. It's amazing how young and talented some of the kids are!!!

On Sunday afternoon, Trey and Brandi brought the girls to see us. I wish the boys could have stayed longer...it was a bubbly fun day!

Notice my lovely new back porch behind Trey and Brandi (above)...I absolutely love it!

I cut Trey and Brandi's heads off (above) but I love this pic of Emily chasing a giant bubble.

Kaylee kept Paw-Paw entertained (above and below) swinging and strolling around the yard.

I'm going to see the grandchildren a lot this week as school is out for Spring Break. I haven't planned anything yet but I'm sure we'll come up with some fun stuff to get into!
